Dance Break 231 welcomes dancers age 5-18 to participate in a four-day dance experience, this year hosted in beautiful Cadillac Michigan! Read on to learn what we have in store and check out the amazing teachers/choreographers lined up to be there!
Classes
Registered Junior, Teen and Senior dancers will get four days of dance instruction and choreography in five styles. Classes are 8am-4pm, Monday-Thursday. Mini's will get four, half-days of dance fun in the style of Pop Jazz and will also get to perform in the production piece!

Finale Performance
Dancers will learn choreography in each of their classes to perform at the end of the week! The performance is free and open to the public!
Scholarships
At the Finale Performance, we will be offering partial/full scholarships for DanceBreak 231 in the summer of 2027! These scholarships will be awarded to dancers who exhibited good work ethic and positive attitudes throughout the week.
Extra Performance Pieces
We are offering studios a chance to bring competition/recital pieces that they would like to perform in our Finale Performance! Each studio may audition six total dances and our faculty will choose up to three to be added to the performance line up. Studio Owners must register the pieces by sending an email to hello@dancebreak231.com. Auditions date and time TBA.
Meet the Faculty

Debora Knight
Co-Director
Debora Knight is the former owner/director of The Conservatory of Dance in Manistee, the Great Lakes Dance Academy in Petoskey, and former Dance Director at Concord Academy Boyne. She is the current Associate Director for From Boston to Bay Harbor and Artistic Director of the Northern Michigan Youth Ballet Ensamble. Ms. Deb has enjoyed sharing her passion for dance for 40 years! Co-directing Dance Break 231 and reuniting with former students to coordinate a fantastic summer dance program is fulfilling a long time dream!

Shelli Golembiewski
Co-Director
Shelli was born and raised in Manistee. She is an alumni of the Conservatory of Dance in Manistee and is now Co-Owner and Instructor there. She is a past member of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Ballet Ensemble and a graduate of Dance Masters of America with certifications in Ballet, Jazz and Tap.

Tarah Hodges
Co-Director
Tarah is co-owner, teacher and alumni of the Conservatory Dance in Manistee. She has worked for the Walt Disney World Company as a character performer and character dancer. Now, she focuses her time as a competition choreographer where she has earned many choreography awards for her routines. Tarah is certified in ballet and jazz through Dance Masters of America.

Melody Hovie
Instructor
Melody’s dance journey began in traditional Mexican folk dance (Baile Folklórico) and grew to include hip hop, breakdance, jazz, salsa, Jazz, and Pom. She earned a Grand National Title with the National Dance Alliance in Orlando, Florida, and later cheered for the semi-pro football team, the North Bay Rattlers. Her professional experience spans performing and teaching with Artesan Dance Company, appearing on IMDb for the film Bright Ones, and collaborating with Michigan-based companies including Mod Hop, Dance Cat-Alyst, and Essence MVMT Collective. Since 2024, Melody has been performing with Design Dance’s adult company, ALIGN, while continuing to coach competitive teams and collaborate with creatives across Michigan.

Aubrianna Lance
Instructor
Aubri brings 18 years of dance experience and has been creating choreography since the age of 14. She teaches a variety of styles, with a special focus on jazz. Her work speaks for itself earning choreography awards, multiple overall wins, and an incredible TWO perfect scores. Her passion, creativity, and dedication to excellence make her an amazing addition to our faculty, and we cannot wait for dancers to learn, grow, and be inspired by her this summer!

Kyle Vandemark
Instructor
Kyle brings 25+ years of experience as a professional commercial dancer, choreographer, and educator. His credits include the Latin Grammys, Miss America, Disney, Nickelodeon, Snapchat, and Lip Sync Battle with LL Cool J, along with work with the Laker Girls. He has performed at iconic venues such as the Bolshoi Theatre, Radio City Music Hall, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and New York Fashion Week. As an educator, Kyle is known for developing dancers who succeed at the highest levels. His students have appeared in Two and a Half Men, Target, Kidz Bop, H&M, and Hip-Hop Harry, and have gone on to dance for collegiate programs including UCLA, USC, University of Oregon, Ohio State, and Arizona State, as well as professional teams like the LA Lakers, LA Rams, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, and LA Chargers. His style blends contemporary jazz with fluid commercial hip-hop, creating high-energy classes built on strong technique and real-world preparation. Now back in Michigan, Kyle’s mission is to bring elite-level training home and raise the standard of dance education.

Bethany Socher
Mini Instructor
Beth is a Conservatory of Dance alumni and current teacher there. She also teaches at the Landing Dance Academy in Cadillac and is director of the Dream Team competition team. Bethany has completed three years of training at the Dance Masters of America Teachers Training School and is certified through Alixa Flexibility’s modules one and two. She loves being able to expand her love of dance to her students!

Veronica Woods
Instructor
Veronica is the owner of Design Dance Studio owner and co-director of Design
Dance Company. She holds a BFA from Western Michigan University and has taught and choreographed with students across the country for over 12 years. Her exceptional choreography-has earned numerous awards, including the prestigious National Choreography Award from NYCDA. Veronica's choreography has been featured in studio shows, video shoots and even caught the attention of a Super Bowl commercial, showcasing the power and beauty of dance to a global audience. She is so excited to bring her fast paced, musicality centered choreography to the students again and again.
